Today I seized the chance to go to Karfi. This place was featured in a history documentary about Minoan Settlement in the mountains. This docu featured Krzysztof Nowicki, the Archeologist who discovered the site. Very interesting.
But it took me a long climbing tour with 35 degrees celsius. I was totally on my own, nobody wanted to go along with me, and no guide… and whatsoever. But It was easier than I thought.

How to get there?
First I ve rented a scooter. Its crucially important u rent a at least a 125cc scooter. I had a 55cc scooter. It was too weak to lift me up the steepest parts (especially the last 300 metres – I had to abandon it at the side of the road). Then head to the “Homo Sapiens Museum “(just google it on the Gmap it s the Coordinates 35°12’56.1″N 25°27’39.4″E). The owner of this museum will try to lure u in, but neglect it. I heard it s a rip off – tourist trap. Anyway, when u pass the museum to your right and just go down the road until u reach the point, where its blocked by a fence. U can remove the fence. It is not forbidden to do this. It is only for the farmers to prevent their mountain wilder beast to go off limits. So close it again after u passed thru. Now keep going with the bike as long it is not possible to go any further the road will end at a “turning area”ish thing. Basically just follow the sign “Minoan Settlement archeological Site”. At the last crossing the sign is turned over lying on the ground. When u reach the “turning area”ish thing, it is time to mount ur bike on the kickstand and to go on by foot. Now Just head for the peak. U will reach it in about 30 min. U will end up automatically at the site (coordinates 35°13’03.5″N 25°28’13.4″E). Note if u wanna do that by foot it takes about 1,5 hrs at least to get from the museum to the site. I recommend to do that in the evening, because it gets really hot at noon time, chances are u get sunstroke very easily. Better just rent a scooter….
